What are you dealing with in your financial life right now? Chances are one of us has lived through it, so not only do we have the education and training to work with you on your challenges, we have experienced it and can relate to what your situation. From starting out as newly-employed college graduates living paycheck to paycheck, to marriage, children, buying/refinancing houses, career changes/hiatus, saving and paying for children’s education expenses, divorce, eldercare planning, estate planning, inheritance, investing, and planning for retirement, we have a wide range of both personal and professional experience.
We honestly understand that there is so much more to finding the best solution for clients than maximizing an investment returns. That is the reason we chose to become comprehensive, fee-only financial planners. We will work with you on all aspects of your financial life.
Your first meeting with us is complimentary and will probably be different than any other you may have had with a financial advisor. The purpose of our initial meeting is for you to share your concerns and goals and why you are seeking to work with a financial planner. We will mostly be listening to you. We will, of course, share with you our approach to financial planning and how we can best meet your needs. We will ask you some questions and talk about how our relationship – and it is an ongoing relationship – will work. But we are not going to be throwing out lingo and showing you graphs of comparing or maximizing investment returns. We will do our best to truly hear and understand what you need.
When you work with us, you can expect:
• Straight talk. We don’t sell any financial products nor do we receive any commissions. As fee-only financial advisors, our only compensation is what you pay for our professional advice. Our complete focus is on what is best for you.
• All-inclusive approach. Together we evaluate all aspects of your finances and design a strategy where each part works in harmony with the others. You’ll see that we pay a lot of attention to areas of your financial life that are often overlooked or ignored by other “financial planners.”
• Access. Life is constantly changing. For one annual retainer fee, you can meet with us or speak to us often as is necessary to help you accomplish your financial goals.
• Value for your money. We are committed to providing value that exceeds our fee. It’s a concept that is virtually non-existent in the financial planning profession. But doesn’t it make sense that your financial advisor should work to save you more than he charges you?
• The highest professional standards. We are committed to the Frango Pledge to Clients—your assurance of receiving the ethical and professional treatment you deserve.
Frango Financial is a comprehensive, holistic, fee-only advisory firm. We are compensated only by our clients. We do not receive compensation, commissions, fees, or referrals from any other parties. Fee-only planners adhere to strict codes of ethics and never benefit from recommending a particular product or service. We believe this method of compensation allows us to provide objective financial planning services without bias from outside compensation.
We offer three levels of service:
• Open Retainer
• Project Retainer
• Financial Fitness Review
OPEN RETAINER
An Open Retainer provides comprehensive financial planning for a fixed fee over the course of one year. Frango Financial attempts to break down financial planning into manageable pieces to encourage clients to follow through with recommendations and steadily progress toward their financial goals. Thus, clients will typically have six to ten scheduled meetings during the first, depending on their individual situation. In addition to scheduled face-to-face meetings, additional e-mail and/or phone consultations are included at no additional charge. In renewal years, meetings are generally less frequent and topics are often combined.
Fees are calculated based on the client’s income, assets, and overall complexity of their financial situation.
PROJECT RETAINER
Project Retainer services are narrower in scope and usually focus on two or more areas of financial planning. The service includes client consultations as well as written and/or oral recommendations resulting from such consultations. The Project Retainer does not constitute a comprehensive financial planning engagement and does not provide ongoing advice or implementation assistance following completion of the project.
FINANCIAL FITNESS REVIEW
A Financial Fitness Review consists of an in-person or telephone meeting, followed by a written report that provides an overall review of a clients’ financial situation, with specific recommendations focusing financial planning topics selected in advance by the Client. A Fitness Review does not provide ongoing advice or implementation assistance following completion of the project.
There are “Five Fundamentals of Fiscal Fitness” that are essential to maintaining strong financial health throughout your life.
1. Pay Yourself First – Savings and Retirement Save at least 10% of your annual income, including retirement savings. Begin by saving a liquid cash reserve. Once you have achieved sufficient liquidity, direct savings toward balancing and building your portfolio. Take advantage of tax-deferred savings plans, especially if your employer matches contributions.
2. Have Sufficient Liquidity Most wage earners should have 10% of their annual income in a primary cash reserve and another 20% in a secondary reserve. Self-employed and retired individuals should build their cash reserves to an even greater level.
3. Pay Off All Credit Cards and Consumer Debt Learn the difference between bad debt, good debt, and acceptable debt. Avoid the bad, use the acceptable wisely, and take advantage of the leveraging power of good debt, including long-term fixed-rate mortgages.
4. Own the “right-sized” home For most middle income Americans, their home is the most significant investment they will ever make. Buy a home worth 2-1/2 to 3 times your annual income, with a mortgage of 50% or more of its value.
5. Invest in Your Career For many individuals, the biggest asset in their portfolio is their human capital – their ability to use their skills, experience, and talent to earn income throughout their lifetime. Continue to invest in your human capital to enhance your earning potential.
